"My name is not important; what is important is what I'm going to do. I just f***ing hate this world, and the human worms feasting on its carcass. My whole life is just cold, bitter hatred, and I always wanted to die violently. This is the time of vengeance, and no life is worth saving, and I will put in the grave as many as I can. It's time for me to kill and it's time for me to die; my genocide crusade begins... here!"

Not Important is the protagonist of Hatred. He's tall, has long black hair, pale white skin, and wears a long trench coat.

Not Important is a violently misanthropic psychopath who is defined by his utter disgust and contempt for all of humanity, wanting to murder everyone regardless of their race, gender, sexuality and age, believing human beings to be weak and undeserving of "a natural death". He shows little emotion throughout the game, apart from hatred, anger, and the enjoyment he takes in the murder of other people. He is a obvious sadist, comparing his killing spree to "feeling like the most intense drug". Not Important has very nihilistic feelings about life, stating his life "is just cold, bitter hatred", and also stating "no life is worth saving"; He is also shown to be both homicidal and suicidal, wanting to die violently and kill as many people as he possibly can before dying, and has absolutely no remorse, guilt, or empathy for his actions. His behavior and actions throughout the game show he is quite obviously criminally insane.

Little is known about him beyond his seething Hatred for humanity. While there are many speculations on his backstory from a possible military background (hence his skilled use of firearms, and ability to drive military vehicles such as Humvees), to him being a personification of Death incarnate (as seen in the Steam Trading Cards and his ability to regenerate health from executing people within gameplay) none of this is confirmed by the developers, who wish such history and motivations to be left unknown.

Biography[]

Background[]

Nothing much is known about Not Important's backstory nor how he came to be a mass killer, but it is known that Not Important is a misanthropic insane killer who shows no remorse for his victims nor the ones he killed. He describes his murders as being part of a "genocide crusade" to eradicate all human life from the city of New York.

The Campaign Against Humanity[]

After killing a drugged hostage in his basement, Not Important leaves home and begins to kill any civilian. After his initial rampage, he enters a police station at One Police Plaza district to murder all remaining police officers before entering the sewers to brutally kill a team of S.W.A.T. officers.

He enters the Marina level and starts to continue his initial rampage there. After he is finished, he escapes by hitching a ride on a train passing by. He then learns of a nuclear power plant he can use to cause heavy casualties. He proceeds to massacre everybody on the train and murder the conductor to get the train to stop and he continues his rampage at a truck stop and motel. After, he steals an armored S.W.A.T vehicle and drives to a train station where he is faced with illegal weapon dealers and the military. After he kills all the hostiles and civilians, he flees to Downtown where he finds a politician named Jose Morales at an election rally. He then murders Morales and all the civilians in the election rally and the general level in Downtown before raiding Fort O'connor to obtain C4 explosives.

Death and Legacy[]

After overwhelming the military, Not Important declares himself a "One Man Army" before leaving the fort. He storms the nuclear power plant, places C4 charges in the facility, and tries to coerce an engineer into overloading the reactor (which would erase the city from the earth). Frustrated in the engineer's reluctance, he murders the engineer and types in the code, 666, to overload the reactor. A group of soldiers arrive and he laughs maniacally as he is shot down. With his last bit of strength, he states that he wonders if his explosives will work, then activates the trigger that completely destroys New York City. After realizing the city is destroyed, he posthumously mutters "Well, they did.".

The game's Survival Mode revealed that Not Important's path of destruction inspired three individuals who subsequently continued genocidal spree against humanity: The sadistic outcast Widowmaker, the rejected former criminal Recidivist, and Psychocop, the disillusioned scarred survivor of Not Important's massacre at the police station in One Police Plaza district. As Not Important is about to blow up a nuclear power plant, the three started their own rampage before meeting their own demise.
