Civilians (also know as worms, sheep, and maggots) are NPCs in Hatred whose sole function is to be murdered.
Unlike the "human shields", civilians are non-violent characters who run from the Antagonist, hiding in various areas of the map. Killing them is necessary to proceed from level to level both as an objective and to be executed to restore health. While their health vary, they are much weaker than human shields.
While most aren't hostile, some may grab weapons left on the ground by fallen Human shields to fight back.
